The Ottumwa Community Schools’ preschool program has filled most of the slots available for the 2016-17 year. Parents interested in sending their four-year-old child to preschool need to contact the office at 641-684-7179. Children must be four-years-old on or before September 15, 2016.
The district’s preschool program has six certified instructors who serve students in a morning or afternoon program. The teachers use Creative Curriculum, a state-approved curriculum, as well as GOLD assessments. Students participate in a variety of activities designed to prepare the student for kindergarten.
There are no requirements to attend the free four-year-old program, according to Preschool Director, Karie Martindale. “We welcome all families and are excited to partner with parents towards school readiness.”
