Device Care – Repairs and More
Device Care
Device Care and Responsibility: The Orcutt Union School District provides instructional materials to all students. Students are responsible for the general care of their textbooks, materials and district issued technology. Devices that are broken or fail to work properly must be reported to the school media specialist for an evaluation of the equipment by our district technology support personnel. Special care must be taken to protect the device at all times. District issued technology is the property of the district. All users and their parents/guardians must familiarize themselves with the following care instructions and information.
General Precautions:
- Keep food and drinks away from the device.
- Store device in a safe place off of the floor and couch to prevent sitting, stepping, or spilling on.
- Store device away from heat, direct sun and cold to prevent damage.
- Store device in a case when traveling to and from school.
- Keep device away from pets.
- Clean screen with a soft cloth or microfiber sheet using only water or screen cleaner.
- Plug in your device to receive a full charge every night.
- Sign out, shut down and close the device every night to allow for updates.
See Acceptable Use Section below
Responsibility to pay for damages: Any student device that stops working because of a hardware or software issue will be replaced by the district at no cost to parents. Outside of a hardware or software issue, parents are responsible to pay for loss or damages to district-issued devices, as with any other piece of district owned property, including textbooks or classroom equipment. Please reach out to your technology department at technology@orcutt-schools.net or school media specialist with any questions regarding technology-based instructional materials.
