“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed up in overalls and looks like work.” -Thomas Edison
“Let us put our minds together and see what life we can make for our children.” -Lakota leader and warrior, Chief Sitting Bull
My name is Thomas Miranda and I’m a proud descendant of the Fond du Lac Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe/Ojibwe. I was born and raised in Seattle and I’ve been teaching Social Studies and English at schools in Seattle, Everett, Marysville, and Tulalip for 25 years.
These quotes are even more important to me today in these uncertain times because they remind me that our children/students and their safety is our most important concern. Today we are faced with a new challenge and a new educational opportunity. Like all opportunities there is uncertainty and fear in what tomorrow will bring. However, I know as a community that we will rise to this occassion and do our best to make the most of these circumstances for the sake of our kids.
