• Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month for November 2018:

    Shauna Redmond!

Shauna’s son (Jasper) is a 4th grader at Fremont. During his time here, Shauna has spent time volunteering in the classroom, as well as doing stints (1 current, 2 previous) as a co-Room Parent. This year, fabulous Ms. Morgan's classroom is collaborating with Ms. Aiken's classroom in growing a Science Garden, so Shauna is enjoying working with some enthusiastic 4th- and 5th-grade gardeners on Fridays, and doing some watering on Mondays. Her favorite opportunity to contribute to Fremont came when her friend and fellow Fremont parent Pamela Chandran encouraged her to sign on with her as co-Chairs of the Book Fair. Working with Nancy Soltero to learn the ropes has taught them a lot so they can carry on after she "graduates" from Fremont next year. Shauna is a public librarian out in the world, and she said “how can I resist Book Fair? Getting books into the hands of readers is everything! I enjoy working with the wonderful students, teachers, parents, and all the staff at Fremont.”

Here are what members of the community had to say about Shauna:

Shauna … was co-chair of the Book Fair. This was Shauna's first time as co-chair and she seized the bull by the horns. Using her background as a librarian, Shauna invigorated the Book Fair with her energy, her ideas, and her professional understanding of what connects kids to books. We had a really successful BF in the fall in large part due to Shauna's contributions. She was inspiring and a pleasure to work with.

Currently Ms. Aiken's, Ms. Morgan's and the Kindergarten classes are [planting a science garden]. It benefits the whole school as kids can see it and walk around in it. Shauna has taken the responsibility for watering it every Monday and during the past holidays that we have had! This is 1-5 hours of donated time per week. Thank you!!

Thank you, Shauna, for being such a giving member of the Fremont Family!
