• Franklin has two volunteer-run organizations.

    1) The Franklin PTA focuses on parent education, public education advocacy, and community building. PTA collects $10 membership dues each fall. These dues fund PTA activities at Franklin (socials, meetings, yellow and red ribbon weeks, National Teacher Appreciation). A portion of the dues go to the Glendale Council PTA, California State PTA, and National PTA. Franklin PTA board meetings are held once a month.

    2) The Benjamin Franklin Elementary Foundation (BFEF) was established in 2009 by parents as a nonprofit that would allow parents to apply for grants and do unrestricted fundraising.
Our Foundation is volunteer-run and unique to Franklin. We try to raise between $150,000 and $200,000 annually. The BFEF has its own by-laws and operates independently of PTA.

All of the net profits BFEF raises goes back to the school: BFEF funds our international teaching interns and local native speaker aides, teacher supplies and student support, music and visual arts supplemental classes, environmental education, and community enrichment activities like Film Fest.

To pay for these people and programs, BFEF asks our families to set up small monthly, sustaining donations each fall. We also run a spring Dance-a-thon fundraiser. Please contact bfefboard@gmail.com if you'd like to know more.
