GUSD Child Development and Child Care Department (CDCC) provides high quality before and after-school care at Franklin. Franklin does not offer preschool or TK.
The contact phone number for Franklin's CDCC program is 818-482-1044. Please be patient, as during childcare hours, staff are often away from the phone.
For more information on childcare offerings please contact the CDCC offices at (818) 247-0775 or visit their website.
Before-school care begins at 6:30am.
Aftercare is open until 6pm.
- Students enter and leave through gate near the corner of Randall and Winchester. If no one is attending the gate, you may call the site CDCC number at 818-482-1044. This number will also be posted at the gate.
- If COVID protocols allow for it, at a later date, each family will be provided with a unique gate code that will allow access to the site for drop-off and pick-up purposes. For the safety of our campus, these gate codes must be issued in person and may not be shared with any other family or with students.
- There is no recurring fee for this program. However, there is an annual registration payment of $75 per family. The fee is waived for children in subsidized child care, foster and homeless youth, and families receiving CalFresh (EBT) benefits. Payment is due by September 15, 2021. Payment may be made by cash, check, or money order. Please make checks payable to “GUSD” and include your child’s name in the memo line.
The CDCC Department focuses on Social Emotional Learning (SEL). SEL is the “process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions” (casel.org, 2017).
The department emphasizes project-based learning through hands-on activities that integrate SEL, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and provide ongoing opportunities for children to expand their creativity and critical thinking skills.
