Dear Families,
My name is Alba C. Ortega, and this is my 2nd. year working at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School.  This is my 18th. year as a Framingham schoolteacher. I absolutely love to learn new things inside and outside of school! I received my bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in Psychology, and in Elementary Education. Soon after, I obtained my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from American College of Education and a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from UMASS. I also became SEI certified in the Spring of 2014. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, music, traveling to new places, spending time with my family and friends, cooking/baking. I am married and I have a daughter who has just finished college and is also working as an elementary teacher.

I truly believe that by working hard and being kind are the most important things in Room 122. I aim to create a classroom where students are safe, happy, and learning. I believe that all students have great potential and that everyone can grow and progress if they put in the effort and have an "awesome attitude!" I believe school is a place where students should feel happy, safe, and loved. Our classroom community is so important to me and I hope that with PBIS and a great group of learners, we will be able to achieve it all!

In second grade your child will continue to strengthen his/her reading and writing skills.  In math we will be learning more about addition, subtraction, measurement, time, money, and place value.  Our content units focus on community, habitats, culture, scientists, engineers, geography, and erosion.

Meu nome é Alba C. Ortega e este é o meu segundo ano ensinando na Woodrow Wilson Elementary School. Este é o meu 18º. ano como professora em Framingham. Eu realmente amo aprender coisas novas dentro e fora da escola! Recebi meu diploma de bacharel pela Northeastern University em Psicologia e em Elementary Education. Logo depois, obtive meu mestrado em Currículo e Instrução pela American College of Education e um mestrado em Linguística Aplicada pela UMASS. Eu também me tornei certificada SEI na primavera de 2014. Fora da escola, gosto de ler, escutar música, viajar para novos lugares, passar tempo com minha família e amigos, cozinhar e fazer doces. Sou casado e tenho uma filha que acabou de terminar a faculdade e também está trabalhando como professora primária.

Eu acredito que os valores mais importantes da sala 122 são trabalhar com empenho e ser gentil. Eu pretendo criar uma sala de aula onde os alunos estejam sempre seguros, felizes e aprendendo. Acredito que todos os alunos tenham um grande potencial e que todos possam crescer e progredir se fizerem o esforço e tiverem uma boa atitude incrível! Eu acredito que a escola é um lugar onde os alunos devem se sentir felizes, seguros e amados. Nossa comunidade de sala de aula é tão importante para mim e espero que, com o programa PBIS e o grupo de alunos, possamos conseguir tudo isso!

Na segunda série, seu filho continuará a fortalecer suas habilidades de leitura e escrita. Em matemática, aprenderemos mais sobre adição, subtração, medição, tempo, dinheiro e valores. Nossas unidades de conteúdo de ensino se concentram na comunidade, habitats, cultura, cientistas, engenheiros, geografia e erosão.
