Superintendent Message to the Community: August 29

Tiger Community: At our all staff Welcome Back Event last week, we watched a short clip from the TV show Ted Lasso that drives home Walt Whitman's timeless reminder:

"Be curious, not judgemental."

That simple idea has become our challenge for the year ahead.

And already, in just the first couple of weeks - through staff professional development, student and family orientations, the first days of class and countless small moments - we've seen this challenge come to life. Our staff have leaned into curiosity: listening deeply, asking questions and creating space for every student to feel heard and valued.

This approach bucks current trends in society, where quick judgement often overshadows curiosity. But our kids deserve better. Our community deserves better.

We invite you to join us in this commitment. Choose curiosity over judgement. Seek out the "I never thought of it that way" moments - with our kids, our neighbors and each other.

Together, we can build a community where curiosity drives connection, understanding and growth.

Here's to a year of curiosity, discovery and true transformation.
