Air Quality Action Plan

At Ephrata Schools, student safety is our top priority. We've made plans to closely monitor air quality conditions that may affect student health while on campus. We've implemented a district-wide Air Quality Action Plan to guide our decisions during periods of poor air quality. Here's what you can expect:

  • Regular Monitoring: Air Quality will be checked at scheduled intervals during the school day using AirNow.gov

  • Activity Decisions: Decisions for outdoor activities - including Recess and PE - will follow the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) Air Pollution and School Activities Chart

  • Athletic Decisions: Decisions regarding athletics will follow the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) Air Pollution and School Activities Chart. The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) have determined that contests may continue when the air quality is 150 or lower. When air quality is between 101-150, steps may be taken to modify contests.

  • High Air Quality Index (AQI) Protocol: When AQI reaches 151 or higher ("Unhealthy"), outdoor activities will be rescheduled, cancelled or moved indoors to protect student heath.

  • Supporting Sensitive Students: If your student has health concerns such as asthma, diabetes or other heart or respiratory conditions, please contact your student's school or coach so we can provide additional support.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep students safe and healthy. For any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to your student's school

For any additional questions or concerns, please contact your student's school.
