Webster Elementary School is holding a Red Cross blood drive to support Webster Principal Brad Snow as he fights Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. The blood drive is scheduled for Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Webster Elementary, 108 W. Church Street, Collinsville.
Potential donors can sign up at redcrossblood.org -> Donate Blood -> Find a Blood Drive -> WEBSTER (all caps) and select the Webster Elementary School blood drive and choose a time. Appointments are recommended.
Earlier this year, Webster Elementary Principal Brad Snow was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia – a type of cancer that starts in certain blood-forming cells of the bone marrow. Because Leukemia is a marrow and blood disorder, Mr. Snow may require a blood transfusion at some point in his treatment.
Teachers at Webster feel holding a blood drive is a proactive approach to supporting Mr. Snow and his family.
“Brad is an amazing principal. One of his greatest qualities as a principal is that he recognizes the teachers’ unique talents and encourages us to use those talents to enhance the school environment. He encourages teachers and students to share their ideas and supports us in all that we do,” says teacher Amelia Petty.
“One of the things I love about Webster is that we are a family; everyone steps up to support and encourage one another, as well as the students, which makes it a great team to be a part of! The dedicated blood drive is a wonderful way for the Webster family, as well as others whose lives have been touched by Mr. Snow, to support and encourage Brad and his family, while also benefiting our community,” adds Petty.
