October 1, 2020 — Collinsville High School educators Tracey Schmidt and Heather Johnson were recognized jointly as August 2020 Kahok Educators of the Month on Thursday, October 1, 2020. The award was presented by Edward Jones Representative Jason Rehg and CHS Principal David Snider.
“Tracey Schmidt and Heather Johnson have worked together as a team to lead CHS’ Remote Learning endeavors since March 2020,” said Principal Snider, “They put in a significant amount of time and effort into developing and implementing the CHS E-Learning plan. They provided technology support to teachers before they left school in March, then continued to do so remotely and again as we embarked on Hybrid/Blended in-person learning this fall. They spend numerous hours outside of their normal workday supporting students, teachers and administrators.”
Mrs. Schmidt is the librarian at Collinsville High School. “Tracey has an excellent relationship with our faculty and staff. She is a positive leader in the building. She also has a phenomenal rapport with CHS students. Our library is the most active and welcoming library I have observed in my educational career,” said Mr. Snider.
Mrs. Johnson is a teacher at Collinsville High School. “Heather, who just completed her second year at CHS, has quickly developed a strong, positive relationship with our faculty and staff. She stays abreast of current educational topics and strategies (i.e. implementation of technology). In addition, Heather leads our Response to Intervention (RtI) Committee which is a multi-tier approach to early identification and support of students with learning and behavior needs.”
The presentation of the August award was delayed due to factors surrounding the unconventional start of the 2020-21 school year. Local Edward Jones Representative Jason Rehg sponsors the award each month during the school year to recognize outstanding educators in Collinsville CUSD 10.
