Twin EchoåÕs final session of its popular STEM Program,Bricks4Kidz, runs every Wednesday in February.
Bricks4Kidz is a fun way for students to learn principles of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
This unit is about the amazing and powerful forces of nature, as students explore the when, where, how and why of all kinds of natural phenomenon. There is a lot of geography in this unit students will examine a map of the Pacific Ring of Fire where most tsunamis occur, view a diagram of the tectonic plates and learn how their movement created earthquakes, define the area known as Tornado Alley in North America, and find out what hurricanes are called in different parts of the world.
The lessons are designed to improve each child’s understanding of the forces of nature, while taking care not to alarm. Kids will build moving models of a tornado, a tsunami, an earthquake and a cyclone; they will learn how they move, why they happen and what people can do to stay safe. Each student will take home a LEGO mini-figure at the conclusion of the program.
Forces of Nature is every Wednesday February 3, 10, 17, and 24 after school from 2:15pm to 3:20pm. Registration is required and space is limited. (See flier for details.)
