October 20, 2020 – During their October regular monthly meeting, the Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 Board of Education honored three individuals for outstanding achievement.
- Mrs. Jennifer Bhooshan was celebrated for being named Illinois Teacher of the Year for the Southwest Region.
- America Gutierrez-Trejo was recognized for being named to the Illinois State Board of Education Student Advisory Council, as well as CUSD 10 Student School Board Member.
- Caroline Lentz was honored for being named a Commended National Merit Scholar.
The awards were presented in-person by Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich. Each honoree was introduced by their principal via Google Meets due to public health restrictions limiting the number of people who could attend the meeting in-person. Maryville Principal Carmen Loemker spoke about Mrs. Bhooshan’s exceptional work in the classroom. Collinsville High School Principal David Snider lauded Gutierrez-Trejo and Lentz for being dedicated students and leaders at CHS.
