CUSD 10 Special Education teacher Lindsey Rakowski was recognized Sunday, November 17, 2019 with an Emerson Excellence in Teaching award.
Ms. Rakowski, a member of the staff at Hollywood Heights Alternative School, was nominated by Hollywood Heights Principal Tara Glynn who said Rakowski exemplifies dedication to her students and her profession.
“She constantly seeks a new, creative way to meet her students needs and improve her practice,” said Glynn, “If you were to walk into Ms. Rakowski’s classroom on any given day, you would witness both academic and social-emotional growth. Ms. Rakowski is always learning and trying new things to help the whole child.”
During summers, Ms. Rakowski volunteers with the Cotiga Foundation in Ecuador to train Ecuadorian special educators on best practices in the classroom as well as inclusion strategies for general education classes.
The Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes and honors exceptional efforts in the education field. This award highlights the achievements of teachers who play a vital role in the shaping of students’ lives.
