November 20, 2020 – Summit Elementary School first grade teacher Jessica Larson was surprised in her classroom with the news that she was named November 2020 Kahok Educator of the Month. The award was presented by Edward Jones Representative Jason Rehg and Summit Principal Stephanie Pulse.
Principal Pulse had the following to say about Ms. Larson:
“Jessica Larson has always been an outstanding educator, but this year has proven that she goes beyond outstanding.
Jessica has not hesitated to step into this “new normal” with a positive attitude and creative outlook she provides to her students daily. Jessica is a teacher who comes prepared to do whatever it takes to reach each of her students. She spends a great deal of time preparing for each of her students no matter hybrid or remote, to make sure they are receiving the best lessons for each day. She has connected extremely well with her families that have chosen remote learning and continues to encourage both the students and parents/guardians.
Jessica makes herself available to each of her students whenever necessary and is in constant communication with not only her students and families, but with administration as well. What I have admired most is watching her willingness to talk to a parent anytime they call the school regarding a question about a lesson or even just needing help figuring out how to get onto a Google meet. Whatever the case, she always helps them figure it out. It is such a pleasure to see Jessica each and every day with a smile on her face!”
Local Edward Jones Representative Jason Rehg sponsors the award each month during the school year to recognize outstanding educators in Collinsville CUSD 10.
