For the seventh consecutive year, Collinsville High School has qualified a team for the Illinois Personal Finance Challenge State Competition to be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago.
The four students representing CHS are (left to right) senior Sarajane Nowman, junior Tyme Sampson, senior Zachary Bodnar and sophomore Fabian Soto. The team is under the direction of business teacher Vicki Fuhrhop.
“This year, 142 teams from Illinois schools took the online exam that covered all areas of financial literacy: Earning Income, Buying Goods and Services, Using Credit, Saving, Financial Investing, and Protecting and Insuring,” says Fuhrhop.
The top scoring team from each of the five Illinois regions and the next top five high scoring teams in the state were invited to Chicago for the State finals.
The Illinois Personal Finance Challenge is a program of Econ Illinois and made available to schools through support from partners and donors.
Fuhrhop says IPFC is possible thanks to the endorsement of Illinois State Treasurer Michael W. Frerichs and generous support from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
