September 24, 2021 – Collinsville CUSD 10 Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich released this update today for families and the community:

Kahok Families,
We are over halfway through the first quarter of the school year. In typical fashion, the school year is flying by and October is right around the corner!
Over the past two weeks, our district has seen the number of positive COVID-19 cases and exclusions decrease when compared to the first few weeks of the school year. This is a welcome trend as district staff work tirelessly to provide a safe environment and address students’ academic and social emotional needs. These are not easy tasks, however, fewer positive cases and exclusions lessen the stress on families and staff, and we are grateful!
At this week’s school board meeting, Mr. DeWitte, Collinsville CUSD 10 Facilities Director, shared images of renovations that occurred this summer at CHS, Dorris Intermediate, Maryville Elementary and Webster Elementary. I hope you are as excited about the improvements as I am and look forward to upcoming improvements throughout the district in the years ahead. Photos from Mr. DeWitte’s presentation are posted on our website. Use THIS LINK to view them.
Lastly, this Monday the district will officially announce our new future teachers initiative: “Kahoks Teaching Kahoks.” Our partnership with the Collinsville Education Scholarship Foundation will create the district’s own pipeline of teachers for generations to come from our high school and CAVC. While this new program is just beginning, the unwavering generosity and support of our alumni and businesses are already evident.
Thank you for your constant dedication to our students and don’t forget to wear your purple and show your Kahok Pride!
Mark B. Skertich Ed.D.
