March 31, 2021 – Renfro Elementary School teacher Ashley Anderson was surprised in her classroom with the news that she was named January 2021 Kahok Educator of the Month. The award was presented by Edward Jones Representative Jason Rehg and Renfro Principal Laura Bauer. Like many things during this unconventional school year, the surprise award presentation had to be delayed until March.
PRINCIPAL Bauer HAD THE FOLLOWING TO SAY ABOUT MrS. Anderson:
“It is with great pleasure Renfro elementary nominates Ashley Anderson for educator of the month. She has shown great initiative in regards to synchronous teaching. She was one of our first teachers to start live teaching at the beginning of the school year. She hit the ground running and was a model for other teachers around the district.
During remote teaching, she has learned new strategies to engage her online learners. Mrs. Anderson has created a great community in her classroom. She has established norms and routines in her classroom that are present even when she is not in the classroom. She is caring, nurturing and goes above and beyond daily to meet the needs of her students. She knows how to push students to get the best out of them.
Mrs. Anderson develops meaningful relationships with both students and parents. Parents always feel comfortable reaching out to her as she has a way of calming anxieties. Ashley is an all around tremendous teacher who deserves to be honored.”
Local Edward Jones Representative Jason Rehg sponsors the award each month during the school year to recognize outstanding educators in Collinsville CUSD 10.
