October 19, 2020 — The Renfro Elementary School Kindness Council presented a $2,002 check to KAHOKstrong from fundraising during the 2019-20 school year. The presentation, previously planned for the end of the school year, was delayed by the COVID-19 shutdown.
“Kindness Council is a group of 4th grade students who apply and are recommended by their teachers for exemplifying the Kahok Way. We meet monthly to plan and coordinate fundraisers and kind actions throughout the school and our community,” said Renfro Speech Language Pathologist Candace Noonan.
“We raised just over $2,000 for KAHOKstrong last school year. We sold bracelets at Renfro School, CHS basketball games, CHS football games, the KAHOKstrong 5k and during a walking field trip to Dorris Intermediate school,” said Noonan. “We also hosted a Spirit Week at Renfro. We did some activities to promote kindness such as writing thank you notes for bus drivers/parents and providing the entire staff of Renfro with yummy treat bags that the kids helped to stuff and deliver.
“Our students voluntarily worked through many recesses to fill bracelet orders and deliver them, to sell bracelets and to decorate the school with posters. I am so proud of the commitment and positivity that our students brought to the table last year,” she added.
The check was presented to KAHOKstrong leaders by 2019-20 Kindness Council representatives Cooper Noonan and Aden Hedger, who are now 5th graders at Dorris Intermediate School.

This donation is especially meaningful right now because we have quite a few families and staff members going through difficult situations and our fundraising abilities are very limited this year. Thanks to Candace Noonan and the Kindness Council for your hard work and generous donation!”
