Kahok Football determined the remainder of the JV football season will be canceled effective immediately.
A determining factor was the number of players unable to play due to injuries.
Head Football Coach Rick Reinhart said, “I feel it would not be safe for our freshmen to go up and play against sophomores and juniors. A few of our sophomores might play with the freshmen team on Thursdays. As always, safety comes first.”
According to Athletic Director Darin Lee, “We are not the only school to have to cancel underclass football games. Based on emails I have seen this year from fellow athletic directors in the St. Louis area, many schools have had similar types of issues with underclass football. For example, we did not schedule JV football this past Saturday because Granite City did not have enough to play any JV games this season.”
Freshman and varsity games will remain as scheduled.
