Collinsville High School students joined others from around Madison County on Saturday, February 6, 2016 to kick off the 2016 Saturday Scholars Program.
Saturday Scholars is a distinguished math, science and technology lecture series sponsored by local participating high schools. A student’s involvement is by invitation only. Ninety-six CHS students from grades 9-12 are in this year’s program.
The goals of Saturday Scholars are to expand knowledge in a variety of areas, allow young people to meet other talented teens, nurture interest in science and math related careers, and provide opportunities to exchange information with professionals.
The series offers lectures every Saturday in February. This year’s topics include Care of Exotic and Domestic Animals, Building Ballpark Village and Theme Parks, Hypnotism, and a field trip to the Science Center for “Living in the Age of Airplanes.”
Parents of Saturday Scholars can participate in a workshop on February 20 about “Navigating the College Admission Process.”
