August 1, 2023 – Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 introduces Mr. Doug Kirk, Ed. S. as the new principal of Maryville Elementary School starting in the 2023-24 school year.
Mr. Kirk grew up in Benton, Illinois, where he graduated from Benton Consolidated High School in 2000. He earned a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He continued his education at SIUE, earning a master’s degree in special education and education specialist degree in educational administration.
Mr. Kirk served as a teacher and coach at Collinsville Middle School for 12 years, and assistant principal at Dorris Intermediate School for four years.
“I believe that all children are unique and must be provided an educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally and socially,” says Kirk, “It is vital to provide a safe and structured environment where students can meet their full potential and are encouraged to share their ideas and take risks.”
When Mr. Kirk isn’t at school, he enjoys watching sports, listening to music, and spending time with his family, including his wife of 14 years, Jenny; and four children: Ella (12), Easton (10) and seven-year-old twin boys Nathaniel and Nolan. The Kirk family has two Bernedoodles named Penny and Bailey.
Mr. Kirk is a proud member of the Kahok Family and is excited to be starting his seventeenth year in education as principal of Maryville Elementary.
“I am looking forward to meeting and working with the students, families, and staff at Maryville Elementary School,” Kirk said.
