The Collinsville Middle School English Department is hosting its annual Family Reading Night on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 6:00-7:30 pm.
Families are invited and students are encouraged to attend. There are incentives such as a contest between classes for highest attendance and bonus points. As in the past, students will receive a “passport” to get stamped at each station they visit during the evening to use as proof of attendance.
The evening includes a Scholastic Book Fair, raffle for a Kindle Fire HD8, trivia, games, attendance prizes and many other activities for all ages.
The Scholastic Book Fair is at CMS all week, February 26-March 2. English classes will visit the book fair during the week. The Book Fair is open during all lunch periods and study halls, as well as for guests at Reading Night. In addition to middle school choices, there are many books for younger children available for purchase, too.
“Door prizes will be better than ever this year due to a SCORE (Schools and Community Outreach by Educators) grant,” says teacher Jennifer Rowland. “The first 50 students through the door will receive a free t-shirt. There will also be $20 & $25 gift cards. Donating box tops at Reading Night earns extra door prize tickets.”
Reading t-shirts will be sold for $10 each.
Raffle tickets will be sold during ALL lunch periods February 26-March 1 and at Reading Night. The winning ticket will be drawn at 7:20 pm on Reading Night. The winner does not have to be in attendance.
