Maryville Elementary kindergarten teacher Katie Miller was surprised this morning with the news that she is the CUSD 10 October Teacher of the Month.
Maryville Principal Carmen Loemker said Mrs. Miller was chosen because she goes the extra mile for her students and her school.
“She teaches kindergarten and is one of our PTA secretaries. She has four children of her own, including a baby, but stayed until 7:00 p.m. recently to complete the PTA audit. She is positive with students and staff members always looking for ways to accommodate student needs. She uses her creative talents to make our school a fun and inviting place for students,” said Mrs. Loemker.
Mrs. Miller is known around the school for the bulletin boards she creates in public spaces and the “Art to Remember” project that turns student artwork into works of art for parents.
The CUSD 10 Teacher of the Month program is sponsored by Jason Rehg of Edward Jones. Each month during the school year, Mr. Rehg visits a Unit 10 school to surprise a teacher with a special apple-shaped award.
