Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced the stay-at-home executive order for residents will extend until April 30 and our state’s focus on the transition to Remote Learning. This means we must be diligent in our efforts to stay home, continue to practice social distancing and adapt how we deliver academic and social engagement to our students.
While our buildings may be closed, we are going to make the most of a challenging situation and do our best to positively impact our students and remind EVERYONE the school year is not over…we’re just educating students differently.
CUSD 10’s focus continues to be:
- Feeding children
- Communicating accurate information on a regular basis
- Engaging students academically and socially

Communication
ALL communication regarding Unit 10 and what occurs during this period will be shared directly from the CUSD 10 district office. Please rely only on official statements released by CUSD 10 on the www.kahoks.org website, through district social media (Facebook, Twitter) and through emails communicated directly to parents/guardians.
Remote Learning
We have been using the terms “E-Learning” and/or “Alternative Learning” during the past two weeks. On Friday, March 27, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Governor Prizker shifted the focus to Remote Learning to keep students engaged academically and socially during the COVID-19 pandemic and we are grateful. Remote learning is “learning that happens outside of the traditional classroom because the student and teacher are separated by distance and/or time. Remote learning can be real-time or flexibility timed, and it may or may not involve technology.”
While our buildings are closed, this does not mean learning has ended. Building principals and teachers will continue providing information regarding academic activities, physical health, and social emotional supports. Grading information related to Remote Learning will also be explained. If you have questions, please continue to communicate with your child’s teacher and/or respective building principal via email, social media, communication apps, Google Classroom, and regular mail. .
Spring Break
CUSD 10 will still observe our scheduled Spring Break on Wednesday, April 8, Thursday, April 9 and Friday, April 10. On Spring Break, students will NOT be expected to engage in remote learning. Families and district staff will have the opportunity to push pause during the dates listed above and Remote Learning will resume on Monday, April 13th.
Practice Good Hygiene
While the stay at home order is in effect, we encourage everyone to practice social distancing, wash your hands frequently, stay away from large crowds, avoid contact with your eyes, mouth and nose and if you do not feel good, stay home and contact your healthcare provider.
The COVID-19 pandemic and what we are experiencing as a school district, community, state and country is challenging and the unknown that lies ahead is certainly scary. While we cannot predict what will happen in the days ahead, CUSD 10 is committed to feeding students, providing regular communication to families, and engaging students with Remote Learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please stay safe and healthy!
