March 13, 2020
Based on today’s declaration from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 schools will close beginning Tuesday, March 17 and remain closed through at least Monday, March 30, 2020.
Please note: There is a regular school day on Monday, March 16, 2020.
Here are the details you need to know regarding how the closure will work:
E-Learning/Alternative Learning
During the time schools are closed, teachers will provide educational opportunities students can do at home. Principals and teachers will provide information directly to students/families.
Specific E-Learning/Alternative Learning plans will vary based on grade level, however, here are districtwide details:
- Teachers are expected to be available to parents and/or students between 8am and 1pm, Monday-Friday.
- Contact your child’s teacher via email, Skyward message or a communication app they have designated (DoJo, Bloomz, Remind App, Google Classroom)
- Contact your child’s principal via email.
- Parents/guardians and older students should check email often to watch for messages from the school district, schools, principals and teachers.
Extra-Curricular Activities/School Events
All extracurricular activities and sports practices are suspended until further notice.
Breakfast/Lunch Meals Available
CUSD 10 is committed to making sure students who rely on school meals will continue to have food while schools are closed.
- Beginning Tuesday, March 17, on weekdays (Monday-Friday) sack breakfast/lunches will be prepared by Sodexo, our food service partner. Each bag will contain food for both breakfast AND lunch.
- These meals will be available for pick up between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm at Collinsville High School, Renfro Elementary, Webster Elementary and Kreitner Elementary for students wishing to receive a meal while school is closed.
- Parents are asked to drive to the pick-up location, roll down their window, pick up the meal and proceed out of the parking lot.
Any necessary adjustments to this meal policy will be announced by CUSD 10.
Building Access and Essential Staff
During school closure, District Central Office staff, Building and Grounds staff, Technology Support Staff and 12-month staff will be the only employees with access to district facilities. All other employees are not required to access CUSD 10 buildings.
Practice Good Hygiene
While school is closed, everyone is encouraged to continue practicing good hygiene:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Limit interaction with large crowds and maintain a distance of at least 3-to-6-feet between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
