Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 is closely monitoring COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and its spread around the country. We continue to follow the recommendation of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to ensure our buildings and classrooms are cleaned properly, and safe personal habits are used to reduce the risk of transmitting acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19.
This week, the Illinois State Board of Education advised school districts across the state to prepare for potential widespread transmission of the virus. This situation is less than ideal, however, CUSD #10 is committed to keeping students safe and providing them with educational continuity during a short and/or long term school closure.
No school closures are planned at this time; in the event the situation does occur, our district will enact an E-Learning/Alternative Learning Plan to provide educational opportunities students can do at home. Principals and teachers will provide information to families if a school closure should occur. In the meantime, all communication regarding this matter will be distributed from the district office.
In your home, you should make arrangements for childcare with the possibility that school could close for any length of time. By making these plans in advance, your family and your child will feel secure knowing you are prepared. At this time, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County. We simply want to be transparent with families to allow plenty of time to prepare.
Thank you for your flexibility and patience during this fast-developing situation. Be assured, in the days and weeks ahead, CUSD #10 will continue to act in accordance with guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education, Madison County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
