Kreitner Elementary School has launched a Bully Free Club “to create a school environment that promotes kindness and eradicates bullying, ” according to Principal Dr. Todd Pettit.
The Bully Free Club has nearly 40 student members who meet each week during lunch recess. Volunteer club sponsors are Mrs. Terry Richardson, ELL Teacher, Mrs. Leah Corey, Social Worker and Mrs. Jeantielle Gonzalez, Speech Language Pathologist.
The club’s first project is a Kindness Tree. The members made 27 Kindness Boxes to place in every classroom. Classmates are asked to write positive, kind affirmations on colored hearts and place them in the box. The heart notes – celebrating good things about each other – are posted on the Kreitner Kindness Tree.
