Dr. Todd Pettit, principal of Kreitner Elementary School, presented at a Quincy (IL) conference “A Blueprint for Success” in early October.
Dr. Pettit’s presentation focused on the importance of leading with “social justice for all” to improve school climate and student achievement. He discussed the importance of educating teachers and school leaders to be better prepared to address inequality and equity though social justice best practice.
“Learning to view situations through an equity filter – while removing personal bias – can be challenging,” says Pettit, “Sharing this awareness with teachers and school leaders will give them tools to become advocates for all students — it has truly helped me.”
The conference is a visit back to his hometown. Dr. Pettit is a 1989 graduate of Quincy High School.
