Kreitner Elementary ELL Teacher Laura Cayetano directed the 21st Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival at the school on Monday, May 6, 2019. Over 300 families and guests attended the night of music, dancing and special food.
The CHS Multicultural Club Folklore Dancers were special guest performers. They danced to “El Son de la Negra.” Most of the high school dancers are former Kreitner Elementary students.
The night included a book fair and refreshments. Everyone sampled Mexican Corn and enjoyed a colorful array of sweet breads. Kreitner Principal Dr. Todd Pettit was master of ceremonies.
Kreitner PTA hosted the event. The school thanked Chara Helton, Monique Meyer and Kristin Lally for encouraging the students who performed and decorating the school; parents who support the festival and allow their children to perform; and CHS teacher Barbara Lindauer who sponsors the Multicultural Club.
The students dancers spent many lunch hours rehearsing to make the annual Cinco de Mayo Festival a success and popular community-wide event.
