The Knights of Columbus “Tootsie Roll Drive” has again provided funds for Special Education.
On Monday, April 1, 2019, Collinsville Knights of Columbus Council 1712 donated nearly $800 to support CUSD 10 Special Education. Grand Night Marty Clancy presented two checks to Director of Special Education Alison Underwood.
Underwood said the first $397 check will be used “…for the Special Education Department activity fund that provides transition opportunities and community experiences for students in specialized programs.”
The other $397 check will benefit the Kahok Special Olympics team.
“They use the funds for uniforms, travel and equipment,” says Underwood.
“Our team added five new athletes this year” according to Underwood, “And when Maurice Bonds qualified for the state basketball competition in individual skills, he won gold while his whole family was there to cheer and support him.”
Funds from the Annual Knights of Columbus Intellectual Disabilities Drive (known as the Tootsie Roll Drive) are donated to Special Education.
