April 11, 2023 – #KahoksUnited/#KahoksUnidos is a theme embraced by the Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 Diversity & Equity Committee to summarize the district’s culture of inclusion.
“The goal is to celebrate our district’s diversity, advocate for our students, create a sense of unity and encourage every student to be their best,” said CUSD 10 Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich.
The mission of #KahokUnited was written by CHS alumnus and high school social studies teacher, Dakota Tostado to describe the district’s focus:
At Collinsville CUSD 10, #KahoksUnidos is more than just a hashtag – it’s a way of life. CUSD 10 is made up of over 6,000 students, all of whom come from uniquely different backgrounds. Every student contributes something special to the culture of the district. We encourage our students to celebrate themselves and each other because they make this district a great place to work and learn.
As preschoolers transform into seniors, students quickly learn that being a Kahok does not end once they graduate – once a Kahok, always a Kahok. With our commitment to remain #KahoksUnited, we support and advocate for the whole of our student body. We strive to create a sense of unity and belonging that encourages every student to be their best every day.
At CUSD 10, we believe that our students are capable of reaching their greatest potential. The way our district helps our students accomplish their goals is by remaining #KahoksUnited.
Dr. Skertich is asking everyone in our district community to use the #KahoksUnited and/or #KahoksUnidos hashtag “…when recognizing the constant dedication to our students by peers, our staff and our communities.”
