KAHOKstrong recently went shopping to help provide 20 district families with a happy Christmas. The students bought, wrapped and delivered the gifts.
“This experience is incredibly rewarding and it really leaves an impact on the students who are doing the shopping,” said Toni Geisen, co-sponosor of KAHOKstrong.
“It makes them stop and think about what they’re picking out and how this may be the best gift that child gets all year. They take this responsibility to heart and want the gifts to be things the recipients will like.”
Geisen works with district social worker, Debbie Zimmerman to share names with members of the community who also want to help provide these families with Christmas gifts.
CHS students who shopped this year were Morgane Ash, Elizabeth Bockler, Braeden Lemp, Faith Liljegren, Luke Liljegren, Luke Maue, Cole Metzger, Brady O’Neill, Spencer Vlasak and Kennedy Walling.
KAHOKstrong supports families in the Unit 10 community who can benefit from assistance. All of their outreach is supported by donations and fundraisers. Monetary contributions are always welcome.
Their next fundraising event is the 4th annual GLOW Bingo night at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, at the Collinsville VFW.
“We are hoping that this event will produce enough revenue for KAHOKstrong to help families in need throughout the district, fund the 5th annual Mr. and Mrs. Stolcis Scholarship, the Mr. Fred Fierce Scholarship and other community projects. Last year we had 40 tables and raised over $6,000. We hope to raise money to help even more families in our community,” said Jacob Post, co-sponsor of KAHOKstrong.
Event details:
- Table cost is $160
- 8 people are allowed per table
- All players and attendees must be 18 years of age to play
- Money must be turned in by JANUARY 5th to reserve a table
- Table location is first come, first served.
