Our Kahok Family is assisting families in our community during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic by providing personal items to those in need. The Kahok Closet at Collinsville High School is still up and running this summer for Collinsville Unit School District #10 students and their families.
During recent weeks, the Kahok Closet has assisted numerous families and filled over 50 orders.
The Kahok Closet at Collinsville High School was started during the 2019-20 school year to assist students who might need toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, razors, toothpaste and toothbrushes, female hygiene items, clothing or school supplies. Quickly, an unused space in the Collinsville Area Vocational Center hallway was filled with donated personal care, clothing and school items. Students request a visit to the closet by filling out an online form.
Since the school closure that unexpectedly began in March, Kahok Closet has been serving students and their families upon request. Items are donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals.
“We appreciate all of the donations we have already received from members of our school and local community—we couldn’t do this outreach without your support!” said Kahok Closet Co-Coordinator Rachel Gattuso, “Thank you if you have already helped this cause.”
Kahok Closet is currently seeking donations of:
-
Toothpaste
-
Tampons
-
