Kahok Families,
On Monday, January 18th, Collinsville CUSD #10 will be closed in observance of the holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated a national day of service to encourage everyone to volunteer in their communities. Please take a moment to consider how your family can lend a hand in our community as service is a fundamental part of #thekahokway.
As educators, families and a community one of the greatest gifts we can share with future generations is knowledge. The definition of knowledge is familiarity, awareness and understanding. Additionally, knowledge is being mindful we may not know the answers, but we possess the ability and skill set to locate information and ask others for help.
One way we can promote knowledge among our students is to provide them information about the past and present, and give them the opportunity to discuss important events and leaders in our nation’s history.
Below you will find links that provide information regarding the life of Martin Luther King Jr. from varied perspectives:

Please take a few minutes and watch these videos with your family and have a conversation about Dr. King’s impact in our everyday lives.
Please be safe over the holiday weekend, wear a mask, social distance and don’t forget to wear your purple and show your Kahok Pride!
