From the office of Governor Quinn:
In recognition of Illinois School Psychologists, Governor Quinn has proclaimed November 12th-16th as School Psychology Awareness Week. The theme for this year is Know Your Own Strengths. Discover Them. Share Them. The proclamation highlights the specialized training, consultation, assessment, intervention, prevention, collaboration and research activities conducted by school psychologists in their varied roles. The Governor commends school psychologists on their dedication to improving the education of our children.
School psychologists work in school systems across the country. Awareness activities in Illinois will coincide with other state and national efforts this November. School psychologists use their training in child development, learning, mental health, motivation, behavior, and scientific research to impact decision making at the individual, classroom, school, and district level. Collaboration with educators, parents, mental health, and community members helps to bring about the most effective learning environments for our students.
