Thirteen Collinsville Area Vocational Center students qualified to compete against 1,000 other top-tier academic students from across the state at the Illinois HOSA State Leadership Conference.
The CAVC students competed in events such as Veterinary Science, Pharmacology, Dental Terminology, Forensic Medicine and Certified Emergency Response Team.
“We came home with six students who placed in the Top 10 of their events and two who qualify for Nationals in June,” said HOSA sponsor and CAVC Clinical Health Occupations Instructor Sherry Modeer. “This group of students was extremely mature and academically focused for this entire trip.”

Mackenzie O’Bear—Pharmacology Knowledge Test
Rainer Jaeger—Veterinary Science
Morgan Myers and Jaylen Jordan—CERT (Certified Emergency Response Team)
Jaeden Sizemore and Nicholas Shepherd qualified for HOSA Nationals in Forensic Medicine.
