On Wednesday, December 16, 2015 nearly 2.5 tons of food was delivered to the CAMA food pantry in Collinsville thanks to Unit 10 elementary students who collected food for the annual Sodexo “Fight Hunger” food drive.
Food collected at the elementary schools was crated and stacked onto pallets stored at Collinsville High School. Early this morning, Unit 10 workers loaded the pallets onto a truck and delivered the food to the food pantry. The items were placed on carts and maneuvered down the winding stairs to the basement.
Sodexo Food Service Manager Linda Franklin coordinates the food drive each year with the school district. Thanks to the generosity of our students and families, many Collinsville residents will have food this winter. Additional food will be delivered to the Caseyville Food Pantry later this week.
In January, the K-4 class from each school who collected the most food will be invited to a special party hosted by Sodexo.
