The Collinsville Education Scholarship Foundation presented scholarships to six members of the CHS Class of 2016 during the May 23 City Council meeting at City Hall.
2016 CESF scholarship winners are: Ashley Burgess, John Collins, Nathaniel Jackstadt, Brett Metzger, Chayse Richardson and Cameron Tanzyus.
The $1,000 merit-based scholarships were given based on applications submitted by the students, their high school transcripts and answers to essay questions about their future education and career plans, past and current contributions to the community and awards/honors they have received.
CESF Board Chairman Kai Redmon said, “I am so impressed with the quality of students we are seeing and hearing about from CHS.” The selection committee said the recipients exemplify not only academic excellence, but a commitment to volunteerism and service to the community.
The scholarship foundation was established in 2010 for the purpose of raising funds and accepting and disbursing contributions to support educational scholarship opportunities and experiences for high school students who reside in the corporate limits of the City of Collinsville.
All contributions and gifts to CESF are 100% tax deductible. Donations from individuals, groups or business can be sent to: Collinsville Education Scholarship Foundation, 125 S. Center Street, Collinsville, IL 62234.
