November 30, 2020 – CUSD 10 Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich made the following announcement regarding the district’s learning plan:
Kahok Families,
Over the past few days, we saw our positive COVID-19 numbers among our staff double district-wide. While our numbers as a district are still really strong, we feel they will continue to rise as this week progresses after the holiday break for staff and students.
This week, beginning tomorrow December 1st, K-4 elementary students will return to a two-days per week Hybrid Learning Setting: A-L on Tuesday/Thursday and M-Z on Wednesday/Friday. Fifth through 12th grade students will remain on their current Hybrid schedule (A-L on Tuesday/Thursday and M-Z on Wednesday/Friday).
Our district will transition to a Full Remote Setting district-wide beginning next Monday, December 7th through December 22nd, the start of Winter Break.
This week, teachers and staff will prepare for the change; reminding students and their families of daily expectations, device care, schedules, how to access programs, Google Classroom, etc. Please watch for communications from teachers and principals regarding specific information for your student(s).
A reminder for the Full Remote Learning meal distribution plan will be shared later this week.
Trying to find a balance between education and health is challenging this year. Thank you for your patience and flexibility. It has allowed us to bring students into classrooms and meet their educational needs in-person for the greater part of the first semester. However, we have arrived at a time when it’s necessary to once again change our learning setting for the safety of our staff and students due to the community spread of COVID-19.
Thank you for all that you have and continue to do for our students!
Sincerely,
Mark B. Skertich, Ed.D.
Superintendent
