Dorris Intermediate School students in Mrs. Darr, Mrs. Blaylock and Mrs. Weiss’ classes presented “Influential Women in History” for visitors to their classroom.
The classes spent two weeks learning about women’s suffrage and rights. Each student chose one influential woman to research and present during the event.

The project will culminate in a field trip to the Old Courthouse in St. Louis to experience “A Trial for the Right to Vote” based on the 1872 case involving Virginia Louise Minor, one of the leaders in the Women’s Suffrage Movement. Mrs. Minor was not allowed to register to vote. She and her husband Francis spoke for her cause in the Old Courthouse.
