Dorris Intermediate School hosted their 3rd Annual Science of the Super Bowl event. The fun night out is part of the school’s STEM program.
The acronym STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Jason Watts, DIS teacher who coordinates the STEM program says, “STEM education challenges help students become curious, ask questions, and make connections to their world. It is the backdrop for students to understanding how our world works. Students who participate in STEM gain a greater appreciation for Science and its impact on our daily life.”
DIS students and their families got to learn some of the physics that make football possible in this STEM Challenge. The Collinsville Kahok football team also came out to give the students some lessons.
Participants learned the science of the perfect spiral, crushing collisions and sports medicine.
