The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has adopted a waiver from the US Government allowing ALL students in our district to receive FREE meals through December 31, 2020.
Hybrid/Blended In-person Learners:
Breakfast and lunch are available. Schools will let students/parents know how meals will be managed in their buildings.
K-6 students will eat breakfast and lunch at school. At CHS and CMS breakfast will be available to grab-and-go to class as students arrive. CHS and CMS will hand out lunches to-go and remote bags to-go at the end of the school day.
Hybrid/Blended students will be offered a take home bag home at the end of the day. The bag – containing breakfast and lunch – is for the next day when they are at-home learning remotely.
Hybrid students who are NOT in attendance on Friday and Monday will receive 2 take home or remote bags on Thursday. Hybrid students who are in-school on Friday will receive 2 take home or remote bags for their remote days of Monday and Tuesday.
Full Remote Learners:
Students learning at home full-time can continue to come the first day of the week between 7-11 a.m. to pick up a remote bag (breakfast and lunch) for EVERY DAY of that school week. If they cannot make it on the first day of the week, they can still get bags later in the week at their school. If a family has children at different schools they can pick-up meals for all children at one school. A parent, guardian, or student can pick up meals.
Please note: If school is closed on a Monday for a holiday, families should come the next day to pick-up meals for the week. (On Tuesday, September 8, 2020 – the day following Labor Day – Remote Learning families are asked to go to CHS to pick up their meals for the week. Going forward, meals can be picked-up at the child(ren)’s school.)
