Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 Director of Curriculum & Assessment LaToya Berry-Coleman was honored by 100 Black Men of Alton/Madison County IL with the Simmons Hanly Conroy Mentor Award at their 33rd Annual Black-Tie Ball and Dinner on October 26, 2019.
Ms. LaToya Berry-Coleman has served as Director of Curriculum and Assessment for Collinsville Community Unit School District #10, for the last five years. Ms. Berry-Coleman was previously an assistant principal with Collinsville High School, Belleville West High School, Alton High School, and an English teacher at Cahokia High School and Cahokia Middle School.
In her role with CUSD 10, Ms. Berry-Coleman oversees program coordinators for the district’s Title I, Multilingual and Pre-Kindergarten departments. She works closely with middle and high school administrators and an elementary curriculum council to develop curriculum that challenges students to reach their highest potential.
She supports CUSD 10 administration in developing school improvement plans, which has allowed the district to have one exemplary and eight commendable school designations from the State of Illinois. In addition, Ms. Berry-Coleman is the force behind district and school programs focused on educating the Whole Child.
Ms. Berry-Coleman graduated from East St. Louis High School and received her Bachelor of Science in English and Master of Science in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
