On April 28, 2021, Dorris Intermediate School was honored by City of Collinsville Cool Cities Committee for their recycling and sustainability efforts.
Deputy City Manager Derek Jackson and CCC Chairperson Lisa Brennan presented a certificate to DIS teacher Anne Blevins and toured the school’s recycling center. Mrs. Blevins leads the DIS sustainability effort.
The school was recognized for its water bottle filling station, Use-it-Again program, and recycling efforts. Currently, DIS collects, cell phones, keys, markers, eye glasses, textiles and plastic bags for recycling – in addition to paper and plastic bottles.
