For Collinsville High School student Darius Hickman, first-hour doesn’t involve reading, writing and arithmetic. For him and his classmates in the Virtual Enterprise class, it’s about coffee, cappuccinos and cash registers.
He is one of 13 students who are the owners and operators of the Kahok Cafe, a new business venture housed the in the school library that serves coffee and flavored cappuccinos for $1 a cup.
This is teaching me how to run a business, to see how business operates, the 17-year-old senior said.
