August 2, 2023 – Representatives from Collinsville Township delivered boxes of school supplies and backpacks to Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 today. The donation will provide items for more than 400 students in need for the 2023-24 school year.
The items were purchased by the Township’s youth programs fund and collected by Collinsville Building & Loan.
“We think it is important that every child in Unit 10 starts the school year on a level playing field,” said Collinsville Township Supervisor Derrick Cox.
“The Township has been distributing school supplies to local children for years,” he said, “We decided the best way to handle it is to provide the items directly to the school district so they can share them with students who need them.”
The supplies will be given to CUSD 10 schools to dispense to students whose families are struggling to purchase the materials required for the school year. Remaining items will be kept to replenish supplies that are used as the year progresses.
Families in need of school supplies can contact Lizeth Jimenez, family outreach coordinator for CUSD 10, at 346-6350 ext. 4296.
