Metro East school districts to receive $600,000 in grants:
School districts in St. Clair and Madison counties will receive a total of $600,000 in grant funding from the state of Illinois for maintenance and improvements.
The grants can be used toward a variety of improvement projects including building renovations, repairs, parking lot improvements and asbestos removal, the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Seven school districts in St. Clair County will each receive a $50,000 grant: Belleville School District 118, Cahokia School District 187, East St. Louis School District 189, Harmony-Emge School District 175, O’Fallon Community Unified School District 90, Shiloh Village School District 85 and Signal Hill School District 181.
Five school districts in Madison County also will each receive a $50,000 grant: Alton School District 11, Bethalto School District 8, East Alton-Wood River Community High School District 14, Roxana School District 1 and Collinsville School District 10.
