Collinsville Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society went to Kreitner Elementary for a service learning project in late November 2018.
The NJHS students read and discussed a Thanksgiving-themed book with a Kreitner elementary class.
“The NJHS students were required to do an introduction activity to personally introduce themselves, choose the book for the read-aloud, lead the class in a discussion about the book and prepare an activity to do with the kiddo’s after the story,” said NJHS Adviser and 8th grade math teacher Joyle Goeken, “Our goal is to promote character and reading to the younger students of our district and to improve our own leadership skills.”
The CMS students also took pictures and video of their experiences to create videos to send back to each Kreitner class.
