April 22, 2022 – Collinsville Middle School HOOLOOS marked Earth Day 2022 by volunteering at Willoughby Heritage Farm and Conservation Reserve to help with spring clean-up. The community service trip was an annual outing prior to the last two years when the COVID-19 pandemic limited field trips and outings.
The students worked hard dividing plants, pulling weeds, moving mulch and planting flowers. After a brief lunch break and some recreation time to enjoy the warm spring day, the group gathered for a commemorative tree planting and photo.

What is A HOOLOO? According to CMS:
“What is a HOOLOO? A HOOLOO is an anti-hooligan. HOOLOOs are a way to show people that middle schoolers can achieve and do great things when they work together. HOOLOOs do things for the school & then community. They are selected by their teachers based on the character traits they display in the first couple months of school. Our motto- “Stand up-to-Stand out”—which means sometimes you need to stand up for kids who are being bullied, to say something when you see other kids bullying, to stand out as someone who stands up when there is something bad going on or by standing out by having good character and behavior. You don’t have to have great grades to be a HOOLOO.”
